Origin Of The Village Panyalahan (Folklore Tasikmalaya)

Once Upon a time there were two very good married people, living somewhere. They have a fairly large number of pets, one of which is a tiger that has been tamed and maintained since childhood.

Their happiness increased after being awarded a plump and smooth child.

Their daily life is farming. So, it is not strange if every day they are not at home, while the baby is always left at home and guarded by a tiger.

For days, weeks, months, nothing ever happened. However, one day a very sad event happened. When they returned from their homes, they were greeted by the Tiger.

The Tiger wags its tail while rubbing its body against them. Seeing the behavior of the tiger is very different from the usual days, of course, raises the question “what the hell has happened?”

While they were thinking, they saw the Tiger's mouth covered with blood, and they thought that their beloved son had been devoured. Feeling very sad and sorry, the baby's father got angry at the tiger and said, “You son of a bitch! I don't know how to return the favor, since I was a child I took care of, I took good care of, now you repay me with evil so that you are willing to pounce on my beloved child.”

Because very angry, the father drew a machete from the scabbard then unsheathed and beheaded into the Tiger's neck Chili said denagan furious,” this is your punishment, blood debt must be paid with blood " and the tiger died instantly.

While crying his wife went into the House followed by her husband to see the state of his son after kicking a tiger carcass that is considered evil as an outlet for his anger.

Once they are inside the house what happens? What did they see? The baby was lying on the crib with no move and then groped his chest was still a sense of warmth, according to their guess must be the baby not long ago died.

Then the baby's body was shaken a little tight resulting in his eyes opening slowly, then looked towards them and smiled spoiled.

They thank God that the baby is still alive. Next they found the bloodied corpse of a large snake lying near the baby's cradle. Now, they realized that the tiger had been very meritorious to them (had saved his son from the Great Snake's entanglement). In addition to the joy for the safety of their children, they deeply regret the act of killing a tiger that is very great service to them.

It happened because one guessed in Sundanese “nyalahan".

To remember the incident, since the killing of Tigers, their place of residence is named Panyalahan meaning the former they made a mistake.

From day-to-day the place is increasingly populated sehuingga the place becomes a developed and beautiful village can also perform “Tibmantra”

Thus the origin of the name Panyalahan village which is now no longer possible will happen things like that have been experienced by the family.

According to the statement of the parents of the village Panyalahan, they said “because the killing of innocent Tigers, causing any weapon directed keharimau with the aim to kill him, until now will not work”.

However, the parents in the village did not call it by the name of Panyalahan but called it Pamasalahan, because in the area there are two first events as described above, the second, in the Safarwadi cave / sacred cave is the place of solving the problems of the Guardians, and the cave that is entered is in the Panyalahan area.

So according to the information above, both can be accepted, namely if the first information is a place of error( one guess), the second information is where the Guardians hold consultations/solve problems regarding Religious Knowledge in Safarwadi cave.
