Kahlil Gibran The Poet
KAHLIL GIBRAN was born in Beshari, Lebanon in 1833. At the age of 10 he immigrated to America with his mother and two younger sisters. Having returned to his homeland for three years to study Arabic, Kahlil Gibran spent his teenage years with Bohemian artists in Boston.
He has also lived in Paris, France for a year to teach fine arts to several French artists. Returning from Paris he moved to New York and remained in New York until the end of his life.
Gibran's writings are widely known for their exotic, even mystical, Oriental flavor. Considered the greatest roaming Arab poet. His works have been translated into more. Kahlil Gibran died in New York 1931, his body was buried in Lebanon, his homeland
