Origin Of Lake Centipede, Folklore Kutai Kalimantan
In the district of Muara Kaman approximately 120 km upstream Tenggarong capital Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan there is an area known as Lake Lipan. Although named Lake, the area is not a lake like Lake Jempang and Semayang. The area is a vast field overgrown with bushes and shrubs.
Once Upon a time the city of Muara Kaman and its surroundings were an ocean. The waterfront at that time was in Berubus, kampung Muara Kaman Ulu, better known as Benua Lawas. At that time there was a kingdom whose city was very crowded because it was located by the sea.
At that time, there was a beautiful princess in the kingdom. The princess was named Putri Aji Bedarah Putih. He was given such a name because when the Princess ate betel and swallowed the water sepahnya then visible red betel water flowing through the esophagus.
The beauty and strangeness of Putri Aji Bedarah Putih was also heard by a Chinese King who immediately left with a large Jung and his soldiers and anchored in the sea in front of the Aji Bedarah Putih Palace. The Chinese king immediately went ashore to propose to Putri jelita.
Before the Chinese King presented his proposal, by The Princess first The King was treated to a meal together. But unfortunately for the Chinese king, he did not know that he was being tested by a princess who was not only beautiful but also clever and wise. While eating at the banquet, puteri was disgusted to see the dishonesty of the guest. The Chinese king apparently ate by taking a sip, not using his hands but directly with his mouth like a dog.
How disgusted Princess Aji Bedarah Putih and he also felt offended, as if the Chinese King did not respect himself besides clearly unable to adjust. When he finished eating and the Chinese King's proposal was submitted, the Princess immediately refused with anger, saying, " how despicable a princess is matched with a human who just sips his way of eating like a dog."
This extraordinary insult, of course, aroused great anger in the Chinese King. His claim was rejected, and he was acquitted. Because of his shame and anger, there was no other way but to be redeemed with all violence to subdue Putri Aji Bedarah Putih. He immediately heads to jungnya to return with a powerful army to destroy the Kingdom and capture the Princess.
A terrible war ensued between the Chinese army that came like a tidal wave from the sea against the army of Aji Bedarah Putih.
It turned out that the White Aji Bedarah army could not fend off the invasion of the raging Chinese army with its ferocity. The princess who witnessed the unequal course of the battle felt sad mixed with indignation. He had imagined that the war would be won by the Chinese army. Hence his wrath.
Putri immediately ate betel while saying, "If it is true that I am the incarnation of the king of magic, then be sepah-Sepah me this centipede-centipede that can destroy the King of China and all his army."When he had said this, he sprayed a bullet from his mouth towards the raging battle. With the blink of an eye sepah betel princess had turned into thousands of huge centipedes, then viciously attacked the Chinese army was raging.
The Chinese army that fought bravely was destroyed one by one. The soldiers, who knew of the attack of the invulnerable centipede, immediately ran headlong to its jungles. So is the King. They intended to leave Muara Kaman with their terrible centipedes, but they were not given the opportunity by the centipedes to leave Muara Kaman alive. Because the centipedes had been spoken to destroy the King and the Chinese army, then in waves they invaded all the way to the junks of China. The king and the entire Chinese army could not range anywhere anymore and eventually they were all wiped out. Their junks were drowned as well.
Meanwhile, Aji Bedarah Putih soon disappeared by magic, somewhere and along with the magic of the princess, then the magic is also a brave water well, as the power of the kingdom's magic power. The place where Jung the king of China drowned and the sea which then mendangkal became a land with a vast field that is then called until now by the name of Lake Centipede.
