CHAPTER I
1.1 Background
At present there have been many changes - changes that are quite rapid and widespread throughout the world as a result of the advancement of human reasoning / thinking. Social and cultural changes will result in changes in value systems, but because the new values have not yet become institutionalized while the old values are starting to be abandoned, it can cause various upheavals, uncertainties, feelings of anxiety and restlessness.
The Indonesian people must strengthen their loyalty to Pancasila by living it in all areas of economic, social and cultural life. Human life without knowing the One and Only God in the first precepts can cause them to lose ethical, moral and spiritual values. Without a just and civilized humanity, progress in the fields of economy, science and technology will actually lower human values.
Without the value of Unity and Oneness, the Indonesian nation will experience divisions from within, for example, enmity between ethnic groups, between religions or races. Without the values of people's Sovereignty, one can witness the growth of the power of arbitrary government which eventually results in conflict between the government and the people. Without the values of social justice, social inequality can be witnessed in society, there will be social jealousy between the rich and the poor. Furthermore, this can lead to unrest and disunity which in turn can endanger the survival of the nation and state.
Therefore, the noble values contained in Pancasila absolutely must be internalized and practiced by the Indonesian people, so that we can avoid the bad consequences brought by that era.
